Farmer Goes Against an Army of 100,000 Orcs to Rescue His Kidnapped Wife

 

In the kingdom of Ehb, mage Gallian visits  Muriella to spend some time together. Muriella   loves kissing Gallian because she believes  there's love between them, but Gallian is   actually absorbing the magic that runs in her  mage bloodline. As they keep on kissing, nature   outside is ruined by the dark forces of Gallian's  ritual. Muriella's father Merick is in the area   and senses this energy, so he goes to investigate  and discovers Gallian is using magic to control an   army of beasts known as krugs. Meanwhile an orphan  known as Farmer works hard on the land. He lives   happily with his son Zeph and his wife Solana, who  Farmer hasn't told "I love you" to yet. They're   often visited by Farmer's best friend Norick, who  informs Farmer that the king's army is recruiting   men and pays well. Farmer turns the offer down  because he prefers a boring life if it means   staying with family.

At the royal castle, King  Konreid receives news of the krugs killing people   all over the place, including a royal guard.  Konreid's nephew Fallow fights the concept of such   peaceful beasts attacking ridiculous, but Konreid  believes dark sorcery is involved. The next day,   Solana and Zeph go to visit Solana's parents  and her brother Bastian at the village while   Farmer stays at home to work. He suddenly  feels a weird presence in the area, and a   quick investigation reveals a bunch of krugs are  invading. Farmer reveals to have secret fighting   techniques that he uses to quickly defeat all the  beasts before the runs to check on Norick, who is   also under attack while his barn burns. Together  the two friends fight and defeat all the enemies,   but unfortunately there's no saving the barn.  Afterward Farmer asks Norick for a horse because   he fears more krugs may be going to the village. 

Back in the royal castle, Muriella is taking sword   lessons with Commander Tarish. He respects  Muriella's skill with the sword, but he can't   accept her into his army because she's a woman.  Their training is interrupted by Fallow, who tells   Tarish to prepare his soldiers because the krugs  are ransacking the land. It's clear that Tarish   dislikes Fallow for being a good-for-nothing,  but he has no choice but to obey. In the village,   Solana is hanging out with her dad and son in  the tower, when she suddenly sees the krugs   coming. She immediately asks her father to take  Zeph to a safe place while she rings the bell to   raise the alarm. The villagers panic and run as  the krugs begin destroying everything in their   path. At that moment, Farmer and Norick  arrive at the village and join the fight,   killing as many krugs as they can. Farmer is  desperate to find Solana and hears from her family   that she's still at the bell tower, so Norick and  Bastian help him find her while Zeph stays with   his grandparents. Meanwhile the krugs reach the  tower and kidnap Solana.

 In his fortress, Gallian   is using his magic to control the krugs. He sends  backup in the form of dark knights that serve as   his avatar and allow him to see what's going on.  When Farmer approaches the tower, he finds it on   fire and assumes Solana's already dead. Gallian  sends a dark knight after Farmer and to his shock,   Farmer fights the dark knight without issues  and even manages to kill him. However Gallian   doesn't give up and gains control of a second  knight that he sends to Solana's house to kill   her parents. When Farmer arrives, he immediately  starts another fight against more incoming krugs   while the knight finds Zeph hiding in the closet.  Zeph quickly runs away and the knight follows him   so that Gallian can have the pleasure of killing  him. While Bastian gets home and is devastated   to find his dead parents, Farmer finds Zeph and  cries for his loss. After Gallian makes his army   retreat with a bunch of prisoners, Farmer  and Bastian bury Zeph and his grandparents.   Norick points out they didn't find Solana's body,  so she could still be alive. At the royal castle,   Fallow meets with Gallian to remind him they had  a deal to take over the throne together. Fallow   doesn't think Gallian's working fast enough, but  Gallian's too worried about Farmer and his ability   to strike dark knights. Some hours later, King  Konreid and his group arrive looking for people   who want to join the royal army. Farmer turns  them down, saying the king has plenty of soldiers   and walls to protect him. Norick and Bastian agree  with him and accept to join his search for Solana,   but they're suddenly intercepted by Merick, who  thinks Norick and Farmer look familiar. Merick   tries to explain to Farmer that the king needs  him more than they know, but Farmer dismisses   him. After a few hours of riding, Farmer, Norick,  and Bastian reach a broken bridge above a cliff.   They send the horses back and then cross the  gap by sliding down a rope with their belts.

 Farmer reaches the other end safely, but Norick  and Bastian fall into the water. Thankfully they   don't get hurt in the process. Meanwhile the king  and his men return to the castle and find only one   guard sleeping at the entrance. To make matters  worse, Fallow is using the throne to get frisky   with a woman. Konreid scolds him for his behavior,  then he makes Tarish take Fallow away. This causes   Fallow to slap Tarish for touching him, but Tarish  can't respond because Fallow is still royalty.   Afterward, Fallow goes to Gallian to demand an  acceleration of the plan. Gallian needs more power   for that, so he visits Muriella, who tells him  her father considers Gallian an enemy of the king.   Gallian dismisses that comment as Merick just  being too judgemental, but since Muriella won't   drop the subject, Gallian gets furious and yells  at her.

 This scares Muriella and causes her to   kick him out. The next morning, Fallow apologizes  to Konreid and promises to do better, so Konreid   allows him to share his breakfast. Afterward,  Konreid discusses with Tarish the strange behavior   the krugs are showing and how they should attack.  Muriella takes the chance to speak to Konreid to   ask what's going on because nobody tells her  anything. Konreid is about to explain the krug   problem but he suddenly starts feeling dizzy and  he passes out. Merick senses his king is in danger   and begins making his way back to the castle while  Fallow goes to see Gallian because he feels sick   as well. Gallian reveals that he poisoned the  king's breakfast and that he has the antidote,   which he gives to Fallow only after making him beg  and reminding him who is really in charge. Moments   later, Merick arrives and uses his magic to start  working on the poison in the king's system.

 Tarish   informs him Fallow has fled the castle and took  two full legions with him, which may indicate he   did the poisoning but also Gallian's help. When  Tarish wonders how Gallian got so much power,   Merick gets suspicious and visits Muriella,  who confirms she had been getting close to   Gallian. Merick explains to her that she had  been used and her bad decisions are bringing   chaos to the kingdom, which causes Muriella  to have a breakdown. Outside the royal estate,   Fallow tells the soldiers to follow him, and when  one man wonders why Tarish isn't with them, Fallow   kills him. Then he threatens to kill anyone who  doesn't follow him because it would technically   be treason. Meanwhile, Farmer, Bastian, and  Norick get lost in the forest. They feel a   weird presence surrounding them and suddenly, a  bunch of plants grab them by their feet and hang   them upside down. This is a trap from nymphs,  who don't want warriors in their forest.

 Farmer   uses his weapons to free himself and swears they  mean no harm, so the nymphs let them go on the   condition they get out of the woods immediately.  The guys admit they're lost and the nymphs accept   to guide them to the edge of the forest while  explaining they don't get involved in humans'   problems. The trio makes it out of the woods at  night and finds the krugs that are transporting   the carts with the prisoners to their lair. One of  the beasts tries to attack them, but they quickly   kill it and Norick takes its helmet, getting an  idea. He and Bastian dress up as krugs and pretend   to bring Farmer as a prisoner, giving him the  chance to look for Solana. Unfortunately Bastian   and Norick are recognized as humans and captured  anyway.

 Farmer finds Solana in one of the cages,   but a dark knight knocks him out from behind  before he can rescue her. Back at the castle,   Konreid wakes up and Merick informs him of  Fallow's doings. Konreid orders Tarish to get   the army ready to attack and he'll come along  instead of resting. On a road not far away,   Solana wakes up and discovers Norick and Bastian  are with her. She breaks down when they tell her   about her parents and Zeph, but Norick promises  Farmer will come for her. In the meantime,   Farmer wakes up to find himself tied to a tree.  There's a dark knight next to him that Gallian   uses to communicate, admitting he's curious about  Farmer because he can't read him like he does with   other normal humans. Gallian wants to know what  Farmer is, but since Farmer doesn't have answers,   Gallian pulls the rope to try to kill him.

However  Farmer moves quickly and kicks the knight to kill   him with his own weapon, then he cuts the rope  to save himself. Nearby, Merick senses Gallian's   magic and rushes to find Farmer barely alive, so  he helps him by sharing some magic medicine. At   the castle, Muriella deals with her feelings of  guilt over having given her magic to Gallian. She   considers ending things, but her best friend comes  to stop her, pointing out that would only make   matters worse. Muriella decides she wants to make  up for her mistakes and make her father proud,   so she puts on armor and leaves the castle to join  the fight. Moments later, Fallow makes his army   join a krug camp, saying they're part of his army  too. This isn't liked by the soldiers. Meanwhile   Merick brings Farmer to the king's camp to  introduce him to Konreid, because he has big news:   Farmer is the king's lost son.

He's sure of this  because Norick used to tend the queen's horses,   and after the massacre at Oxley Pass, Norick found  a little boy wandering around. There was only one   child at Oxley Pass back then, the prince. Farmer  refuses to believe this and leaves the tent. While   he searches for a horse to go back to look for his  wife, Merick approaches him to ask him to join the   army again. Farmer refuses, so Merick points  out there's no point in saving Solana if the   king doesn't win the war because then Merick  won't have a place to live. A moment later,   Tarish approaches Fallow to try to solve this  without a fight. He calls him a traitor and   announces any soldier under his command will be  considered one as well. Fallow laughs because he   believes himself to be the new king and nothing  can be done against him, but at that moment   Konreid shows up to prove he's still alive.

 The  soldiers that followed Fallow immediately return   to their king's side and get ready for battle,  Tarish is shocked to see Farmer joining them as   well. Suddenly Fallow's krug army arrives. The  king's archers deal with the first wave, then   the sword wielders come through to start a fierce  battle. Gallian uses his magic to send some krugs   underground, allowing them to grab the soldiers by  surprise from below. The humans are good fighters   and manage to keep up their defenses, but things  get more complicated when Gallian sends some dark   knights and catapults that shoot rocks and even  krugs themselves on fire. While the archers find   a safe spot to bring down the krugs in charge of  the catapults, the king also joins the fight, so   the dark knights try going after him. The soldiers  can't stop them no matter how much they attack,   but Farmer knows he's special and opens the path  to reach the knights and quickly kill them.

 This   distraction is used by Fallow to shoot Konreid in  the chest. The king doesn't give up and continues   fighting, but Merick orders the guards to take  him away. Fallow immediately rides away and Farmer   tries to catch him, but another dark knight gets  in his way and Farmer has to stay to fight him. By   holding onto the knight's horse, Farmer manages to  reach the knight and kill him too. The king's army   wins the battle, but Gallian thinks they're just  buying time. Nearby, Muriella uses her special   senses to understand what direction she needs to  take and discovers there's a dark knight following   her, so she rides away into the woods. Moments  later, Fallow and the few men he has left show up   in the forest with the intention of returning to  the castle because it's empty and up for taking.   They suddenly stop when they find a dark knight  hanging from a tree, and just a little further in,   Muriella is waiting.

 Fallow thinks he's found  the perfect victim to kidnap, but at that moment   the plants start moving: it turns out this is a  trap and the nymphs now capture all the soldiers.   Scared, Fallow grabs his sword and tries to  kill Muriella, who quickly defends herself.   A nymph on a vine jumps in to take Muriella away  and Fallow tries to escape, but he finds himself   blocked by the bodies of his own soldiers. The  vines capture Fallow and Muriella announces he's   coming with her. At Gallian's fortress, the krugs  arrive with all the prisoners and as soon as they   open the cages, Bastian and Norick start a fight.  Solana gets to run away with another prisoner,   but unfortunately Norick dies in battle. Bastian  joins the girls in the corridor trying to find a   way out, but the krugs find them and re-capture  them. In the king's camp, Konreid isn't well,   so Merick calls Farmer to make him face his  father's last wishes.

 Konreid uses a quote   about bravery and hard work that Farmer heard  before, and this proves he's his son because   Konreid only said that to the prince. The king  thinks that Farmer's skills in battle prove he   shall be a worthy leader, but also reveals he  knows a lot about other subjects like plants   and animals because he cares about his kingdom  and what's going on in it. Farmer is impressed   and holds Konreid's hand as he accepts his dream  of peace right before the king dies. Outside,   Tarish welcomes Muriella and sees her bring  Fallow with her. Tarish immediately frees Fallow   from the vines and challenges him to a duel for  the king's honor. Fallow accepts and begins the   fight by attacking Tarish from behind, but Tarish  quickly recovers and shows off his skills, easily   overpowering Fallow. At that moment, a soldier  brings the announcement of Konreid's death,   and Fallow laughs because that means he's the  new king and they can't hurt him.

He tries to   order the soldiers around, but he's interrupted  by Merick, who introduces everyone to Farmer,   explaining he's Konreid's son and therefore  the new king. Merick accuses Fallow of killing   Kinreid, and while a soldier finally arrests  Fallow, everyone kneels to Farmer as their new   king. At his fortress, Gallian learns that Solana  is among the prisoners and wants to use her to   make Farmer come to him. He touches her creepily  and using his magic, Gallian discovers that Solana   is pregnant. Back at the royal camp, the army  says goodbye to Konreid with a proper funeral   before making battle plans. Muriella tries to  join the army again and this time Farmer accepts   her as a soldier. She also knows of other people  that want to help and takes Farmer to the woods,   surprising him with the presence of the  nymphs. They usually don't want to fight,   but they've changed their mind because the krugs  are now attacking their forest too. Moments later,   Farmer takes his army to Gallian's fortress, where  the mage summons a storm to make the battle harder   for the humans.

As a fierce battle begins between  krugs and the royal guards plus the nymphs,   Merick takes Farmer around the mountain to  show him a secret entrance to Gallian's lair.   Then Merick teleports inside to confront Gallian  directly, since they used to be friends before   Gallian fell into the darkness. The last existing  mages in the kingdom start a fight by controlling   swords with their magic, and Gallian uses all the  power he's stolen from Muriella to stab Merick,   leaving him to die alone. Outside, a nymph helps  Farmer use a rope to jump over a cliff and gain   access to the secret entrance. Muriella senses  her father's death and teleports into the fortress   to say goodbye to him. Before dying, Merick gives  his daughter the last of his magic. In the caves,   Bastian manages to get the chains off the walls  and gathers some of the prisoners to fight the   krugs while the others take the chance to escape.

  Farmer sneaks inside the fortress until he finds   Solana, but Gallian is waiting for him. Solana  tries to run away, but Gallian hits her with   magic to make her stay. Then Gallian grabs a sword  to fight Farmer, and as soon as he realizes Farmer   has better skills, he begins using magic to toss  tables at him and float away from Farmer's hits.   While Tarish and the nymphs have trouble against  the dark knights that join the krugs in battle,   Farmer manages to disarm Gallian and wound his  head. Gallian responds by capturing Farmer in a   magic hurricane of books and retrieves his sword  to kill him, only to be interrupted by Muriella,   who uses her magic to save Farmer and freeze  Gallian. Solana sees the opportunity and with   Farmer's sword, she stabs Gallian to  get revenge for her son. Now free,   Farmer comes forward and finishes Gallian once  and for all.

The death of the mage causes all   the dark knights to disappear and krugs to  calm down and leave because they aren't under   his control anymore. The prisoners and the  army take a breath as they realize they won.   Farmer and Solana celebrate their victory with a  kiss, and Farmer finally tells her he loves her.

Saboteurs Must Blow Up a Bridge Inside Enemy Territory

 

When World War II breaks out, Norway declares itself neutral. However the small town of Narvik is the main source of iron ore for Germany, and Great Britain considers it important to stop the ore transportation. In April 1940, the British marine force arrives at Norwegian waters, so a troop of Norwegian soldiers are sent to Narvik as neutrality guards, unaware of the fact that Norway's neutrality has already been breached. Among these soldiers is Tofte, who is delighted to go back to his hometown and see his family again. When they arrive at Narvik, soldiers are disappointed to hear their day off has been canceled, so Tofte asks for a special permission because it's his son's birthday. The permission is granted but he has to come back before midnight. Tofte rushes to visit his wife Ingrid, who works as a waitress in a hotel and sometimes helps as an interpreter because she knows German.

Today there's a meeting with the town mayor, discussing the possibility of an agreement over the ore with British consul Ross and German consul Fritz. Tofte reunites with Ingrid, then goes outside to spend time with his son Ole and his father Aslak while he waits for his wife to finish working. When the meeting ends, Ross asks Ingrid if Fritz gave any kind of opinion when he called her over to translate, but Ingrid has no information to share. Afterward the family has dinner together, and after Aslak and Ole go to bed, Tofte and Ingrid get frisky together. Tofte ends up falling asleep by mistake, and he's woken up by the sound of explosions in the area. Once Ingrid has said goodbye to him, Tofte rushes out and sees fire at the coast. He meets with his colonel, who explains their ships have been sunk by the Germans and now marines are scattered all over the harbor.

Tofte rejoins his companions to defend the town, but the colonel goes to talk to the German leader and hears his army has taken over the rest of Norway, so they don't stand a chance. The colonel decides to surrender to avoid more death and tells his men to let the German soldiers pass. Now the Norwegian soldiers must travel to a new meeting point because returning to the base is begging to be captured. The next morning, Ingrid goes to work and finds Ross' assistant sneaking inside through the employee door, explaining it's a matter of life or death. When Ingrid reaches the reception, she discovers the German army has taken over the hotel as a base, and Fritz asks her to be their translator, he also requires all the room keys. Ingrid can tell they'll shoot if she doesn't obey, so she gives them the keys and asks about her husband.

 Fritz promises they let the Norwegian tropes leave in peace. Meanwhile Tofte's group is leaving town, and the Germans try to stop them, but the colonel ignores them and they keep on marching. Back in the hotel, a few German soldiers arrive through the back door and Ingrid distracts them with breakfast to give her friend and coworker Bjorg the chance to help Ross and his assistant escape. Before they leave, Ross asks Ingrid for a place to hide, but Ingrid doesn't want to take them home because of her son. Instead, she tells them of a cabin in the mountains and sends Bjorg to guide them there. When Ingrid goes home after work, Aslak tells her they should leave town. Ingrid worries about Tofte, but Aslak points out the soldiers left and they won't be able to come back as long as the Germans are here. They go to the harbor, where they find the waters filled with dead Norwegian marines, and they discover the ferry isn't available, so they'll have to take the train.

 Tofte and his team are currently marching along the train tracks. The major discovers this section of the bridge was supposed to be blown up but they can't find the dynamite, so he asks Tofte for help because he used to work for the train station with his dad before he joined the neutrality watch. Tofte doesn't know anything about the dynamite and calls his dad for help, Aslak tells him the location of the dynamite but also warns him there's a train coming and Ingrid and Ole are in it. Tofte passes this information to his superiors and requests to blow up the bridge after letting the train pass, but the major refuses because the entire point is to stop the train from bringing the ore to German hands. Suddenly they hear some noises in the tunnel and the soldiers get ready to shoot, but it turns out they're the civilians that couldn't catch the train because the Germans stopped it.

 Tofte quickly says hi to his family before sending them to hide in the other tunnel, then he helps his fellow soldiers set up the dynamite, which means he has to climb up the beams that hold the bridge. Inside the tunnel, most of the civilians keep moving, but Ole makes her mother stay back to wait for Tofte. At that moment, the Germans arrive and open fire, killing various Norwegian soldiers. The major orders the detonation of the explosives before Tofte can climb down, so he has to jump and land on the snow before he's hit by the explosion too. Moments later, the Germans find Ingrid and Ole and since she speaks their language, she's saved instead of captured. On her way back to town, Ingrid discovers that the Germans captured a few Norwegian soldiers as prisoners of war, including Tofte. When they return to town, Ingrid leaves Ole with Aslak before she's taken to see Fritz, who requires her help with translation to talk to the mayor again.

 Fritz knows the mayor telegraphed someone and wants to know why, thus the mayor explains he tried to warn the British about the invasion, but he never got to because the Germans caught him first. Since Fritz clarifies the British won't come as long as the Germans are here, the mayor wants to evacuate the remaining civilians, but Fritz won't let him do that either. The mayor leaves furious and promises to take over the pedestrian tunnel to use as a shelter. Then Ingrid begins cleaning up and accidentally breaks a glass. Fritz wonders why she's so nervous, and Ingrid explains she's worried about Tofte, so Fritz promises he'll see what he can do about it. Sometime later, Bjorg shows up at Ingrid's home, saying Ross wants tobacco and specifically asked for her. Ingrid doesn't want to go, but she accepts when Bjorg points out that she can't do everything alone.

 Ingrid goes to the cabin in the mountains and after she hands in the tobacco, Ross asks her to spy for them. At first she refuses, but then Ross implies he will tell the Germans that she's hiding him, so she has no choice but to accept. Ross knows his ships are the best, but he needs her to find out how the Germans would protect the city against a land attack. The next time Ingrid is serving coffee to Fritz and his men, she pays attention to the drawer where they put away their maps and plans. Suddenly an explosion can be heard from the harbor, and Ingrid looks through the window to discover the British are attacking. She rushes out of the hotel and meets with Aslak and Ole to hide in a basement with the rest of the neighbors. By the time the battle ends, night has fallen.

Ingrid returns to the hotel where she learns that the British sunk all the German ships but they haven't come ashore yet, she guesses they're waiting for her intel. She helps take care of the wounded soldiers, and when she sees Fritz, she asks for any news on Tofte. Unfortunately Fritz explains things are too tense now to ask for favors regarding the soldiers the blew up the bridge and ruined things for the Germans. Since Frit won't help her, Ingrid decides to take advantage of everyone being distracted to sneak into the office and steal the maps and plans. Afterward, she takes them to Ross, who makes a copy and makes his assistant send the information to the British forces. Ingrid returns to town with the originals and is stopped by the German soldiers on guard, luckily as a hotel worker she has the papers that allow her to transit freely. The soldiers let her pass, but when Ingrid is about to enter her home, there's an explosion in town that pushes her back: the British are already using her intel to attack. Ingrid's house is now in ruins and she rushes inside to search for her family.

 Sadly Aslak has died under the debris, while Ole is alive but heavily wounded. Four weeks later, the Germans have established an iron ring around Narvik. French and Polish troops have disembarked to attack from the north and south, but first the Norwegians must neutralize the German positions in the mountains. In Roasme, Tofte and the other Norwegian prisoners are being slaved by the Germans to make them work in the sheer cold, to the point one of them passes out. It worries Tofte that they may kill them if they don't help, so he makes his friend stand up again by reminding him Bjorg is waiting for him to return. The Norwegian soldiers are sent to the trenches and when the French suddenly attack, the Norwegians are put in charge of the wounded.

 Tofte takes the chance to steal some food and overhears others talking about the attack on Narvik, which sadly allows him to learn that his father is dead. Tofte wants to know if Ole also died, but everyone gets distracted by the enemy fire, and the Norwegians take the chance to escape. The Germans notice this and try to stop them, but at that moment the French get close enough to kill the captors and rescue the Norwegians. Tofte is quickly handed a gun and he helps the French kill all the Germans on their way until they finally get to leave the trenches, then Tofte discovers his old team and his mayor are there working with the French as well. He learns they'll eventually return to Narvik, but first they have to finish killing all the Germans in the area.

 One week later, civilians are caught in the crossfire between German positions and British ships, so they're all staying in the shelters, where Ingrid continues to take care of Ole's wounds. One afternoon, Bjorg informs her the Germans are going from door to door looking for the people that are hiding the English, they're also asking for Ingrid. After leaving Ole with Bjorg, Ingrid goes to translate for another meeting between Fritz and the mayor. Fritz wants to know where Ross is and doesn't believe the mayor when he says he doesn't know, thus the mayor gets arrested. At that moment a small explosion hits the side of the hotel, but they ignore it because it's routine by now. Fritz invites Ingrid to stay with him in the hotel, but she prefers to be with her son. Later in the evening, Ingrid is devastated to discover Ole's unconscious and burning with fever because his wound got infected.

 Ingrid immediately takes him to the hotel and asks Fritz for a doctor, but Fritz turns her request down, explaining the soldiers are their priority. Desperate, Ingrid offers to tell him Ross' location in exchange for help for her son. Moments later, a doctor is taking care of Ole's wound, which was infected because a little piece of metal got caught in it. Bjorg shows up to warn Ingrid that the Germans caught Ross, but as soon as she sees a doctor with Ole, she realizes what Ingrid did. To calm her down, Ingrid assures her she never mentioned her. Two weeks later, Norwegian and French soldiers attack the Germans in Rombaks Fjord, their last stop before Narvik. They think that thanks to Ingrid's intel they'll do fine, but now the Germans are waiting for them and immediately open fire. Tofte has to help his friend get to a safe spot, and the group notices they're at a great disadvantage so they try to leave. However the major shoots at the sky and threatens to kill anyone that dares behave like a coward. The key is destroying the cannons, prompting Tofte to take two men and go up the hill through a hidden road at the back. After killing the guards, they enter a tunnel, where Germans open fire at them again. The Norwegians exchanged a few shots before throwing a grenade to kill most of the enemies. Then they shoot the survivors directly before putting a bomb inside the cannon to destroy it as well.

Afterward the trio goes back outside to announce the cannon is down, now their team can advance and finally win the battle. In Narvik, the Germans begin getting ready to leave and Fritz asks Ingrid to come with him to Berlin, warning her that the Germans will retaliate later with brutal air raids. Ingrid turns him down, reminding him she has a husband, causing Fritz to shows her the prisoners list to reveal their Norwegian slaves were lost in action. Devastated, Ingrid runs to her son and is found by her boss, who comforts her and gives her all her pay so she can leave Narvik with Ole. Meanwhile Norwegian and French soldiers celebrate their victory, which is considered Hitler's first loss in World War II. Sometime later, the group finally makes it back to Narvik, and all the citizens receive them with pride. Tofte is shocked to see Ingrid isn't there to welcome him too, and when he asks Bjorg, she explains it's been hard for Ingrid after dealing with the Germans.

Tofte goes to his old house and is hurt to find it in ruins, but inside he's relieved to see Ingrid and Ole. The family reunites with hugs and kisses, but Ingrid quickly reminds them they need to leave. Tofte demands an explanation, and Ingrid confesses what she had to do to save her child. She doesn't feel guilty because it was a British grenade that hurt Ole and killed Aslak, but Tofte is still furious and calls her a traitor since she betrayed the people that protected the town. Ingrid reminds him that nobody was here protecting Ole, and when Tofte points out that people just die during the war, Ingrid says it would've been better if he never came back. Ingrid tries to leave with Ole alone, but at that moment, German planes begin bombing the area. Tofte rushes to drag his wife and kid behind a wall for safety and tells Ingrid this is her fault. Some screaming can be heard outside and when Tofte goes to check, he's distressed to discover his best friend is dead.

 The mayor shows up with the rest of the soldiers to discuss new tactics, but Tofte only has eyes for Ingrid, who is leaving with Ole. At the harbor, all the citizens are trying to leave on the next boat. Because they heard rumors about Ingrid's betrayal, they push her out of the way and don't help her when she falls. Ingrid begins picking up her things thinking she'll forever be alone, but suddenly a pair of hands appear to help: it's Tofte, who has quit the mission to be with his family. Fortunately there are enough fishing boats to take all the civilians away before German bombers leave the city in ruins. The recapture of Narvik is considered Hitler's first defeat in World War II, but the victory was brief. Without informing Norway, Great Britain and France ordered a full withdrawal. Norwegian forces were left alone and forced to lay down their weapons. The battle of Narvik is the largest battle on Norwegian soil.

The year is 2009, and young Alice works as a judo teacher in the city. One of her students is Jack, who also happens to be her boyfriend. Today Alice will introduce Jack to her mother Carol, who is all the family she has left. Her father left when she was ten and Alice has been looking for him since then. On his way to Alice's place, Jack can't help feeling like he's being followed, but he decides to ignore it. The dinner goes well, and after Carol goes to bed, Jack receives a message that says "run". Nervous, Jack asks Alice if she'd like to meet his family, which she finds very sudden. Then he gives her a little box with a beautiful ring that Jack's family has had for a long time, but Alice doesn't like it. She thinks Jack is moving too fast, so she's gonna need some time to think about this. Jack hugs her before leaving. After Jack's gone, Alice discovers that when he hugged her, he put the box in her pocket. When she runs out of the building to follow him, she discovers some men in black suits are taking Jack away in a van.

 At that moment, Alice is approached by the White Rabbit, who claims to be a friend of Jack's. He explains Jack stole the ring and was arrested for it, and now he wants the ring. Alice hides the box behind her back and takes out the ring before attacking Rabbit, but the man pushes her away and makes her drop the box. Rabbit grabs the box and runs to the back of an alley where he jumps into a mirror. Alice does the same, which makes her fall through a tunnel that drops her inside an abandoned building. She sees Rabbit run out of the building and goes after him, but she freezes when she finds herself on the edge of the floor. The city she is in seems to be old and abandoned, almost post-apocalyptic. Alice continues to follow Rabbit and sees him enter a different building with the rabbit logo, the men in black are taking Jack there as well. Suddenly an aircraft begins flying over the area, and when its light touches Alice's arm, it makes a tattoo appear.

Scared, Alice enters the building, where she finds a little bottle on a table that says "curiosity killed the cat". There are two bean slots on the walls, and when Alice looks through them, she notices a bunch of people inside boxes with similar tattoos on their bodies. At that moment the walls start closing around Alice and Rabbit talks through her to the slot, calling her an "oyster" before sending her away. The room begins moving because it's become a box, and the aircraft takes away all the people Alice saw in the room, herself included. Alice notices the base of the box is a hatch, so she uses her hair pain to get it open and falls into the river. She swims back to the city, where the Ratcatcher tries to rob her, but he steps back when he sees the tattoo.

 Apparently helping the oysters may get you in trouble, but he changes his mind when he hears her name, thinking she's the "Alice of legend". Ratcatcher covers the tattoo on Alice's arm with an old rag and makes her follow him to the Teahouse, a shop where people pay lots  of money for teas that  provide instant gratification in the form of positive emotions. At the front there's the Dormouse, who announces where new teas come in. However Ratcacher grabs Alice and takes her through the back door to meet the real boss behind this, the Hatter, who pays Ratcher with some tea to make him leave. Hatter explains that this is Wonderland, and that the Alice from the story was here 150 years ago.

Only people from Alice's world can become oysters, and the men in black, called the Suits, bring them over through the Looking Glass to drain their emotions at the casino, which is under the control of the White Rabbit organization. These emotions are what make the teas, so while usually entering the casino would be dangerous, Hatter has some contacts that can allow him to take Alice there to find Jack. They leave through a back door that comes out on another high edge, which makes Alice nervous because she's afraid of heights. Hatter helps her move by holding her hand. Meanwhile White Rabbit goes to the casino, where all the oysters are connected to the floor. Every time they have a good emotion thanks to the casino's entertainment, it's sent to the underground lab where Carpenter and Walrus make the teas. Whenever an oyster begins to remember their real life, the Suits take them away to a waiting room to be reprogrammed.

 Rabbit takes the box to the King and Queen of Hearts, who had taken control of Wonderland with their White Rabbit company and brought ruin to the land with their obsession with instant gratification. When they open the box and find the ring isn't there, the Queen becomes furious and fires White Rabbit after he explains Alice is on the loose. Then she asks the Suits to get the Mad March, her favorite assassin who lost his head. Carpenter isn't done fixing him yet, but since the Queen wants him now, he improvises by using a cookie jar shaped like a hare as the new head. Carpenter presents the Mad March, who immediately asks him to capture Alice. Back to Alice, Hatter makes her take a special elevator that carries them to the Great Library, where they keep all the history and art of Wonderland so that the Queen won't burn it.

 They also give home to refugees who value wisdom over the Queen's quick fix. An old couple receives them at gunpoint, but they allow them to pass when they realize who Hatter is and he pays them with cheese. Hatter and Alice go to see Dodo, the man in charge of the library, to ask for his help finding Jack. Hatter thinks Alice can pay with her ring, and when she shows it to Dodo he freaks out. That's the Stone of Wonderland, which controls the Looking Glass and could help them bring the Queen down. Dodo tries to take it by force, and when Hatter tries to defend Alice, Dodo shoots him. Scared, Alice pushes Dodo off and runs back to the elevator. Hatter suddenly stands up, revealing he's fine, and he starts a fight with Dodo as they go after Alice.

 Alice rushes to their side and with her judo skills, she beats Dodo up, then she drags Hatter into the elevator to escape. She discovers Hatter wears body armor under his clothes and yells at him for trying to sell her ring. Hatter wants to send Alice back to her world through the mirror, but Alice still wants to save Jack and perhaps buy his freedom with the ring. They try to return to the Teahouse only to  find Mad March and the  Suits there, who immediately begin chasing them. Hatter takes Alice to the river and they escape on a boat. Once they're far enough, Hatter confesses that now his shop has been ransacked, he's homeless and wants to leave for her world. Suddenly an aircraft begins following them, thus Hatter stops at the nearest shore and hides the boat under plants.

 Hatter wants to lead their pursuers into a trap, so he runs through the woods to get the attention of a Jabberwock. When the beast shows up, Hatter and Aliev begin running and accidentally fall into a trap full of spikes. The Jabberwock tries to eat them but it can't get close enough because of those spikes, thus it leaves. A moment later, a man shows up to insult them: it's Charlie the White Knight, who put up that trap to catch the Jabberwock. However Charlie becomes more friendly when he hears Alice's name and sees the ring. While the Mad March begins tracking them through the forest, Charlie takes Hatter and Alice to the old Kingdom of Knights. Nowadays it's abandoned because the Queen wiped off all the knights years ago, and Charlie is the only one left. He still takes care of the throne with the skeleton of the old king. Seeing all this makes Hatter change his mind, he'll help Alice go home but he won't leave with her because he must fight for his home. The next morning, Alice's shocked to find her cat Dinah, who died when she was ten. Dinah begins running, and Alice follows her to find a door on an old tree stump. When she enters it, Dinah smiles at her with a creepy grin and the door closes; then Alice discovers she's become her younger self and the room became her old house. Alice begins looking for her father and finds the original Wonderland book on the floor before waking up, finding herself on the tree where she fell asleep last night. Moments later, Hatter and Charlie wake up to find Alice gone, so they go looking for her. Meanwhile Alice walks into an open area on purpose in order for Mad March to catch her. They take her to see the Queen and Alice explains she's hidden the ring, but she'll give it to the Queen if she frees Jack and sends them both home.

 The Queen calls for Jack, and when he shows up, Alice's shocked to discover Jack is the Queen's son. Jack says that Alice means nothing to her and that she stole the ring. Even worse, in this world Jack has a fianceé known as the Duchess, who comes to meet Alice too and immediately gets jealous. Jack takes Alice to the side and apologizes for everything before putting something in her hands and kissing her temple to whisper "he's here". Then Jack leaves, and when the Duchess shows her jealousy, he asks her to get him out of here. Duchess refuses to help him leave, but she takes him to their room to make him drink Honesty Tea. Jack mentions he needed Alice, but when the Duchess is about to ask what for, she's called by the Queen, who is furious because she doesn't have the intel yet. If the Duchess wants to stay, she has until morning to make Jack talk. In the meantime, Alice opens her hands and discovers that Jack gave her her dad's watch. The Suits take Alice to the Truth Room, handled by the twin doctors.

The twins hypnotize Alice to make her think she's a kid at home again and they guide her through the illusion, which causes her to find a pig in her dad's studio. Then they make the floor disappear and leave Alice hanging on a wooden plank, which is slowly disappearing too. Alice's fear of heights makes her accept to share the location of the ring, but she asks for some paper to draw a map. Outside the casino, Hatter and Charlie are pretending to be entertainers asking for a job, but the guard doesn't believe them so Hatter knocks him out. Then Charlie uses his mystical powers to find the Truth Room, and with the door open, Alice jumps over the hole and is safely caught by Hatter. As Suits begin chasing them, the trio runs to the elevator and reaches the roof, where there are more agents waiting for them.

 Charlie isn't a good fighter, but Hatter and Alice manage to beat them up. There are more coming though, thus they take the flamingo hovercrafts to escape. Alice is terrified, but Hatter makes her ride with him. As they fly away, Jack sees them through the window. The Suits have hovercrafts too and go after the trio, shooting at their rides to make them fall in the water. Back in the casino, Jack  pretends to be unconscious,  and when a guard and Duchess find him, he knocks out the guard and ties up the Duchess in order to escape. The twins take the map to the Queen and she reads it to find an address on Earth. The guards also bring the news of Jack's escape, so the King sends everyone available to find both Alice and Jack. Moments later, Alice and Hatter reach a beach and begin looking for Charlie, who got separated by the current.

Alice tells Hatter that Jack isn't actually bad and something fishy is going on, because thanks to him she knows her dad is here in Wonderland. However Hatter thinks Jack's lying to set up a trap. After they bump into Charlie, Alice admits she wants to go back to the casino, but Hatter wants her to help the resistance. Dodo had been bad but he's only a sub-boss, the real head of the organization is Caterpillar, who will help for sure. Alice decides to give them a chance, so Hatter takes the boat back to the city to send a message. He finds Dormouse and asks him to get in contact with Caterpillar, saying they're ready to make a deal. Back in the forest, Alice and Charlie make camp. Charlie praises Alice for how brave she's been and confesses he's only alive because when the Queen showed up to kill the knights, he had only been a squire and he ran away to hide.

The next day he took the White Knight's Armor and wished for a second chance, which he thinks is Alice's mission. Moments later, Hatter comes back and tells Alice Caterpillar will soon send an agent to meet with them. The two of them have a sweet moment together,  and when they're about to  kiss, they're interrupted by Jack. It turns out Jack has been working undercover for the resistance all along because he also hates what the Queen's doing to Wonderland. He stole the ring from his mother to instigate a coup, but it didn't work out, and he lied in front of the Queen to protect Alice. He's the agent Caterpillar sent and he can take Alice to see her dad, so Alice finally reveals she left the ring in the hand of the skeleton king. After taking the ring, Jack wants to take Alice away but he refuses to bring Hatter too, but Hatter doesn't want to come anyway.

After riding for a while, Alice and Jack stop to rest, and Alice asks about the Duchess. Jack explains he feels nothing for her, she's just his mother's pawn to control him. He also swears his heart belongs to Alice. Then Jack urges Alice to keep going because he heard something, it turns out Hatter and Charlie are following them in secret. Once they reach the city, Jack and Alice enter the Hospital of Dreams, where they finally meet with Caterpillar. He explains how the emotions of oysters greatly hurt Wonderland, showing her some examples of people who couldn't handle the mix of good and bad feelings. They need to send all the oysters back to Earth, and the only one that can do it is Alice's dad. Unfortunately he's currently an amnesiac, that's why Jack went looking for Alice, the resistance thinks she can make her dad see reason. Now Alice thinks her relationship with Jack had been a lie, but she still wants to see her dad. Caterpillar reveals his agents managed to find him, and when he presses a button, Alice's dad shows up: it turns out he's the Carpenter.

 He doesn't remember Alice, he only remembers fake memories the Queen put in him to make him work under her command. This makes Alice cry, which causes Carpenter to call her "jellybean", her childhood nickname. Feeling some hope, Alice shares childhood anecdotes while putting the watch on Carpenter's wrist, but at that moment, Mad March and the Suits show up. Caterpillar disappears by eating a mushroom, but everyone else gets arrested. When they leave the building, they're seen by Hatter and Charlie. Hatter wants to help and asks Charlie to join him in a surprise attack, but Charlie gets scared and runs away, leaving Hatter to get arrested as well. Moments later, the Queen receives the ring and is told about Jack's plan. To be sure she won't be betrayed again, the Queen tells Carpenter that she'll kill Alice, but Carpenter doesn't care, which hurts Alice deeply. Seeing he doesn't remember anything, the Queen sends Carpenter back to his lab. Jack asks the Queen to let Alice return to her world, pointing out that if she gets killed the shock may awaken Carpenter's memories. The King doesn't like it, but Queen accepts: Alice will be thrown in the mirror and Jack will be punished with death.

Meanwhile Charlie is overwhelmed with guilt, but seeing the skeleton of his king inspires him with a plan. Hatter is in the Truth Room, where the twins are trying to make him confess the location of the Great Library. Since they're unsuccessful, Mad March takes over, and when he comes closer Hatter uses the chance to fight him. Exchanging a few hits allows Hatter to also break the illusion wall. Alice is taken to the mirror, which is being used with the ring to bring oysters from her world. While the Suits come by to take the ring back to the Queen, Alice sees how kids are being brought as well, and it makes her so angry that she begins fighting the Suits. After pushing them all away, she runs to the roof, where she pushes another man off to get access to the hovercraft. Alice fights her fears and flies away to go after the guys with the ring, hiding in the forest when they try to shoot her down.

 Moments later, the Queen receives the ring but also a warning: the casino is under attack. They think there's an army outside, but it's actually Charlie, who has brought all the skeletons over as a distraction. The Queen sends the Suits to attack and Charlie defends himself the best he can with a giant crossbow, but it isn't long until he's knocked out. With everyone distracted, Alice re-enters the casino with no issues. Meanwhile Jack is being kept at the Truth Room, but the Duchess shows up to rescue him because she has fallen for him for real and only worked for the Queen to survive. At that moment the Suits find Alice, so she hides in the main casino room. There are guards there too, but Hatter arrives to knock them out. After they hug, they block the doors and proceed with an idea Alice got from Caterpillar's comment about mixing good and bad emotions. Alice gets on the stage and begins telling everyone to wake up because they need to remember their old lives and families. Her speech makes everyone slowly start to remember, and when Carpenter sees this on the security cameras, his memory is triggered as well. Carpenter leaves the lab and Walrus tries to stop him, so Carpenter fights him.

 In the struggle, Walrus is shot by his own gun. Alice continues to talk to everyone to make them upset with the situation, these negative emotions are transported to the lab too. Suddenly the Suits finally push the door open and start to fire, but Carpenter arrives to stop them. Alice doesn't trust him, thus Carpenter begins sharing some of their memories together and convinces her he's fine now. Father and daughter reunite with a hug, but at that moment, Walrus reveals he's alive and comes to shoot Alice. Carpenter sees him and gets in the way of the bullet to save his daughter. Hatter shoots Walrus before he can try again, and all this death causes the lab to start shaking the entire building. The oysters run away, and Carpenter says goodbye to Alice so that Hatter can drag her away too. The Queen wants to evacuate too, but the King decides to stay because he's tired of working hard for her when she'll never return his love. Duchess and Jack manage to run outside too, and when Charlie wakes up, he shoots one last arrow. When the building finally explodes, he thinks he hit it.

The Queen tries to order his men to catch Alice, but Alice points out she doesn't have power anymore, and nobody listens to her anymore. Then Alice asks for the ring, and Hatter threatens to cut it off if necessary. The Queen surrenders and returns the ring, causing everyone to celebrate. Moments later, the resistance activates the mirror to help all the oysters go home. Alice says goodbye to Charlie, and when Jack comes over to ask her to stay as his queen, she turns him down. They say goodbye with a hug, and when the Hatter notices, he thinks he's lost his chance with Alice. Hatter decides to stay in Wonderland and tells Alice she should go back, which breaks her heart. Then Alice crosses the mirror and falls back on Earth, losing consciousness on the streets. When she wakes up, she's in the hospital with Carol and learns she was only missing for an hour. When they return home, Alice throws away all the tools she had been using to look for her dad, since she doesn't need them anymore. Suddenly someone rings the bell: it's Hatter, who decided to come after all. Alice receives him with a hug and the two of them finally kiss.

Whoever Chops Off His Head Gets All The Riches

 

It's a snowy Christmas morning in the kingdom  and Essel, a worker at the bawdy house,   wakes up her client Gawain with a bucket of  cold water. When Gawain realizes he overslept,   he rushes out of the building because he needs to  get ready for the big Christmas banquet his uncle   the king will be throwing later. When he arrives  at the castle, Gawain tells his mother he was in   church all night, but she doesn't believe him.  Gawain notices his mother isn't dressed for the   party and she explains she hasn't got the guts  for it this year, but she wants him to go and   have fun. As soon as Gawain leaves, his mother  meets with her maids and she blindfolds her eyes   to begin a special ritual during which she writes  a letter with a green seal on it. At the party,   the king invites Gawain to sit next to him  because he's family. The king wants to hear   some stories from him but Gawain doesn't have  any, so the queen tells them he'll get his own   stories when he becomes a legendary knight like  those at the table. This means a lot to Gawain   because he's always wanted to be a knight.

 While  Gawain's mother burns the letter she wrote and   the ashes make a sprout appear, the king begins  giving a speech, only to be suddenly interrupted   by a tree-like person known as the Green Knight.  The knight presents a letter with a green seal,   and when the queen breaks that seal, she becomes  possessed by the Green Knight and begins reading   the letter with his voice. The Green Knight wants  to play a Christmas game in which one of the   king's warriors tries to land a blow against him.  If that man succeeds, he'll win the Green Knight's   axe, but he also must go to the Green Chapel a  year from now to allow the Green Knight to return   the same blow. When the queen finishes reading  the letter, it lights itself on fire, and the   queen falls down with dizziness.

 The king's too  old to accept the challenge and he invites any of   his knights to do it, Gawain comes forward ready  to prove himself. He doesn't have a sword though,   so the king gives him his own, reminding Gawain  that it's just a game. Gawain is ready to fight,   but the Green Knight shocks him by putting down  his axe on the floor, which causes moss to appear   on the stones. Then the Green Knight kneels and  offers his neck, so Gawain lowers his sword,   causing the knight to lose his head. Gawain thinks  it's all over, but as soon as he turns around,   the Green Knight rises and picks up his head,  which reminds Gawain he must come to see him in   a year. Then the Green Knight leaves, and after  a moment of awkward silence, everyone celebrates   Gawain's victory.

 Gawain returns the sword to the  king and puts the axe away while his mother falls   to her knees, tired but pleased with herself.  Almost a year later, the story of Gawain's   victory is told to the kids through a puppet show,  and they show the ending of the second meeting as   rather tragic for their hero. Essel teases Gawain  for becoming a legend in town and Gawain hates it,   but he still accepts to pose for a very bright  portrait. In the evening when Gawain goes to   the local tavern, the drunkards talk of the Green  Knight story, but they also mention a rumor about   Gawain's mother being a witch, so Gawain beats  him up for his insolence. When he returns home,   he's surprised to see the king is there with his  mother. The king reminds Gawain that Christmas is   around the corner, and when Gawain reminds him  he said it was a game, the king points out it's   still incomplete.

Gawain doesn't believe  the Green Knight will be waiting for him,   but the king gently caresses Gawain's face and  tells him to go anyway. When the first snow falls,   preparations for Gawain's trip begin. The  queen and king take a shield to the church to   be blessed, the axe is retrieved from its box, and  Gawain's mother makes a special green girdle with   a rune hidden inside. Essel doesn't want Gawain to  leave, but Gawain explains he gave his word. When   Gawain is about to leave, his mother gives him  the girdle and asks him to wear it all the time   because it'll protect him from any harm. Gawain  travels alone and only stops to camp at night,   and to feel less lonely, he grabs the bell Essel  gifted him and thinks about their last chat. Essel   had admitted to having feelings for him and asked  him to make her his lady, but Gawain disappointed   her by not giving her an answer.

The next day,  Gawain reaches a crossroads intersection and   chooses a path by instinct. He begins to cross the  woods and notices a fox running nearby, there's   also a body against a tree. Moments later, Gawain  ends up on an abandoned battlefield. There he   finds a young scavenger who explains he's looking  for his brothers' bodies. When Gawain mentions the   green chapel, the boy gives directions and asks  for a reward, so Gawain tosses a coin at him.   Gawain stops by the stream to let his horse dress  then takes the path through the forest that the   scavenger mentioned, but after a few steps in, he  ends up cornered by two thieves. They grab him and   hold him down to present him to the scavenger, who  reveals leading him here was a plan to rob him. 

 The boy teases Gawain with his knife and takes the  girdle before the other two thieves tie him up,   leaving him on the ground while they go through  his things. The scavenger breaks the shield,   and when he finds the axe, he's so impressed that  he takes it away on the horse as his companions   follow him, leaving the other things behind. A  few moments after the thieves are gone, a skeleton   appears on Gawain's spot, but this is actually  a vision he's having of his own death. Refusing   to die in such a pathetic way, Gawain drags his  body through the ground like a worm and reaches   for his sword, which he uses to cut off the ropes  but also accidentally hurts him in the process.   Once he gets back his things, Gawain runs through  the forest and gets lost. By the time night falls,   he finds a lake, and he's shocked to see an  abandoned house near the water. Gawain enters   the building and finds it empty, so he decides  to sleep comfortably on the bed. Moments later,   he's woken up by Winifred, who wants to know why  he's taken her bed. Gawain apologizes and explains   he's a traveler that lost his way, causing  Winifred to mention she's lost something too.

 She   creeps Gawain out when she begins to move because  she floats instead of walking, making Gawain   assume she's some kind of spirit. When they make  it outside, Winifred explains that a lord came   to her house and try to take advantage of her,  but because she resisted, he killed her, and now   her head is at the bottom of the lake. Winifred  would like Gawain to retrieve her head, and when   he wonders what he'd get as a reward, Winifred  expresses confusion at the request. Gawain   decides to do the right thing and jumps into the  lake, where he begins hearing voices calling for   him. Suddenly the water turns red and Gawain  finds the skull, so he quickly takes it before   going back to the surface. Winifred is gone, but  the fox is there again, only to leave after it   confirms Gawain is fine. With the skull in hand,  Gawain returns to the bedroom and finds Winifred's skeleton on the bed, which causes the skull to  become her actual head. Gawain drops it in shock and hears Winifred tell him that the Green Knight  is someone he knows before picking it up again, causing it to turn back into a skull.

 Then Gawain  reunites the skull with its body on the bed, and  at that moment the sun raises, revealing the Green  Knight's axe waiting for him in the room. Gawain  continues his journey on foot carrying the weight  of the axe. The fox seems to be following him, and when Gawain stops at a cave to rest, the fox  tries to enter it. At first Gawain tries to scare   it away, but since the fox insists, Gawain lets  him share the cave with him. The next morning,   the two of them begin traveling side by side.  After a few hours of walking, they reach the top   of a hill and Gawain trips, causing him to roll  down to the bottom and almost lose Essel's bell.   Later, Gawain is so hungry that he eats the first  mushrooms he finds, but they make him throw up and   hallucinate that his hand is covered by moss.  Suddenly Gawain hears some thunder rumbling in   the distance, and when looks up, he sees a creepy  person staring at him from afar. The next day,   Gawain and the fox keep on walking until the  ground starts to shake, and that's how they   find a group of giants emerging from behind the  hills.

Gawain immediately runs to them and asks   to ride on their shoulders, but when one of the  giants tries to pick him up, the fox growls at   them to keep them away. The giants respond by  letting out a high-pitched noise and moving on,   so Gawain and fox take the opposite road. Hours  later, Gawain is so tired that he falls to the   ground, not sure he can continue. Fortunately the  fox finds a castle nearby, which inspires Gawain   to stand up and run to the doors to ask for help  because he passes out. The next morning Gawain   wakes up on a beautiful bed while someone touches  his forehead. At first he thinks it's his mother,   but after blinking he discovers it's the lord of  the castle. The lord's a fan of Gawain's story and   tells him not to worry because it's still December  21st, meaning he has time to rest.

Then the lord   takes Gawain to have breakfast and introduces him  to his mother, who has the eyes blindfolded, and   his lady, who shocks Gawain because she looks just  like Essel. Gawain kisses her hand and turns down   her invitation to stay a few days because he has  to arrive at the chapel soon. The lord corrects   him and explains the green chapel is only a few  hours from the castle, so Gawain can stay and rest   properly for a few days to then leave on Christmas  morning. Gawain accepts to stay and wanders around   the castle, where he discovers the fox depicted  in the paintings. He also finds a huge library and   learns the lady has read all the books, she's  also written a few of them. As a token of her   appreciation, she gifts Gawain a gift and asks for  a kiss, but Gawain only kisses her cheek.

Then the   lady asks Gawain to sit for her so she can paint  him, and using a trick of light, the lady creates   a very eerie portrait of Gawain upside down while  he sits in the next room. When she finally shows   him the final product, the lady notices the bell  Gawain carries around his neck and asks if it   was a gift from a loved one, but since he says  no, she breaks the string and steals the bell.   Sometime later, the lord comes back from hunting  and gifts Gawain the deer he killed. Both men go   back inside to have a drink and the lord surprises  Gawain by promising he'll gift him his best hunt   every day, however in return Gawain must give  him anything he receives from the castle.

 Gawain   doesn't understand how there can be something  that doesn't belong to the lord already, but   the lord just says the castle works in mysterious  ways. The lady cuts in to discuss the Green Knight   and how the greens of nature always find a way  to grow back. While the lady continues to play   with her cards, the lord asks what Gawain wishes  to gain from this whole deal, so Gawain explains   he wants enough honor to finally become a knight.  When Gawain goes to get ready for bed, he receives   a visit from the mother, who touches his face and  her own chest before leaving with no explanation.   The next morning, Gawain wakes up to discover  the lady has been watching him sleep.

She comes   closer to touch Gawain and wonders why he didn't  come to her bedroom last night, Gawain explains   he wanted to but didn't do it because it wasn't  right. Then the lady asks Gawain if he believes   in magic and reveals she has the green girdle, she  even knows that it's enchanted to protect whoever   wears it. Suddenly the lady climbs on the bed and  begins getting frisky with Gawain, asking him to   take the girdle from her as she helps him finish.  Once he does, the lady lets him keep the girdle,   but she also leaves his own seed on his hand as  she points out he's no knight. After she leaves,   Gawain is shocked to discover the mother has been  standing there all along. Tired of these games,   Gawain decides to leave. In the forest, he finds  the lord, who can tell Gawain received something   from the castle. In order to take it back, he  kisses Gawain to make up for what he did with the   lady. Gawain pushes his hand away and announces  he's living, so the lord opens his bag and reveals   his latest hunt: it's the fox, who thankfully  is still alive.

After a few hours of walking,   Gawain and the fox finds a stream surrounded by an  orange fog. There's a boat on the water, but when   Gawain tries to approach it, the fox growls at him  to stop him. Gawain is confused by this attitude   until the fox suddenly reveals it can talk and  warns Gawain that there's no happy ending ahead   of him. The fox thinks Gawain should return  home, so Gawain swings his axe at it to scare   the animal away for not being supportive. Gawain  takes the boat down the steam and only comes back   to land when he finds a road marked by a cross.  It only takes him a few minutes on foot to reach   the chapel, and inside he finds the Green Knight  sitting at the altar, but he's asleep. Gawain sits   in front of him and after putting down the axe,  he waits. On Christmas morning, the Green Knight   finally awakes. He grabs the axe and announces  they'll finish the game, for which Gawain must   kneel to receive the same blow he threw last  year.

 Gawain kneels as asked but when the Green   Knight raises his axe, Gawain's so scared that  he flinches. The Knight teases him for it since   he had a whole year to be ready for this moment,  thus Gawain takes a moment to gather courage and   asks him to try again. The Green Knight raises his  axe once more, but Gawain still can't help himself   and moves away. He wonders if the game truly is  just this, and when the Green Knight confirms,   Gawain kneels again, only to move away when  the axe comes for him. Refusing to die so soon,   Gawain runs away, and as he crosses the forest  he's surprised to find his horse. Sometime later,   Gawain returns to the city and reunites with his  mother, who immediately takes care of his wounds.   Afterward Gawain visits Essel, who is sad to  see her bell is gone.

The two of them get frisky   together, but Gawain never takes off the girdle.  A few days later, Gawain is called to the castle   because the king doesn't have much time left. With  the last of his strength, the king finally knights   Gawain and gifts him his precious sword. After  the king's death, Gawain becomes the new monarch,   which seems to have been his mother's plan all  along. Nine months later, Essel gives birth to   Gawain's son. Gawain still doesn't marry her  though, he just shows up to pick up the baby,   and he leaves after leaving some money for  the bawdy house without caring about leaving   a devastated Essel behind. A year later, Gawain  marries a noblewoman, and on their wedding night,   he doesn't allow her to take off his girdle.

 They  fulfill their marital duties, but Gawain doesn't   find them as satisfying as it was with Essel.  Years pass and the kingdom gets involved in a   war. Gawain decides to start training his child  as a knight, but by the time the boy as soon as   the boy becomes of age, he dies in battle. The  consequences of this war change the citizen's   opinions of Gawain and he becomes a hated leader  that gets stones thrown at. Essel hates him even   more now because her son is dead, but at least  the queen gives birth to a new heir. A few years   later, the castle is under siege, and Gawain is  abandoned by everyone, including his own wife and   his mother.

 Alone with the eerie painting that has  been hung straight, Gawain finally takes off his   girdle, which he has never taken off before. This  causes his head to fall and the crown rolls away.   Suddenly Gawain blinks and finds himself in the  chapel again, it turns out all he saw had been a   vision showing him the future he'd get if he runs  away. The Green Knight raises his axe but Gawain   asks for a moment to take off the girdle, which  should leave him vulnerable. Now Gawain can say   he's ready for real, and the Green Knight gently  caresses his face, congratulating him for finally   being brave and keeping his word. Afterward the  Green Knight tells him "now, off with your head".

The Sun in This Town Disappears For 30 Days

 

The town of Barrow in Alaska, is isolated in eighty miles of roadless wilderness. Once a year, they spend thirty days of winter in complete darkness known as "the polar night". Near this town, the Stranger arrives on a boat, and after staring at a creepy ship in the distance, he makes his way to Barrow. Outside Barrow, sheriffs Eben and Billy find a pile of burnt phones buried in the snow, which doesn't look like a prank. They also take the chance to look at the last sunset they'll have for a month. In town, people are getting ready to either hibernate or leave on the next plane. Since everyone is so busy, they don't notice a mysterious figure sneaking into the local kennel and killing all the snow dogs in it. Back to the sheriffs, they stop to check on Beau, whose bulldozer is leaking gas all over the snow. Eben is in the middle of fining him when they get a radio message reporting the death of the dogs. Meanwhile, Eben's ex-wife Stella finishes her job and takes her car to the airport.

 In the middle of the road she's suddenly hit by a bulldozer, destroying her car. Stella can't wait to be towed and calls Eben for help, but Eben uses the excuse of having to work to avoid her and sends Billy to pick her up instead. Billy drives Stella to the airport as fast as possible but they still don't make it in time, so now Stella will have to stay a month in Barrow. Back to Eben, he looks at the dogs and finds a complete massacre, but the owners Ally and John can't think of anyone that could hate them this much. Afterward, Eben returns to the police station, where his grandmother Helen and his brother Jake work with him. They receive a message from the utilidor reporting some vandalism, so Even goes to check it out. Carter and Wilson explain someone destroyed their helicopter, which is usually kept under lock and key. Meanwhile in the cell tower, Gus hears some strange noises outside and goes to check them out, only to notice the lights going out.

A group of mysterious figures suddenly surround him but before Gus can react, these people jump on him and kill him in order to feed - it turns out they're vampires. In the town's diner, the Stranger tries to order a raw burger and something to drink, but the waitress explains they have a law that doesn't allow them to sell alcohol during the dark month. The stranger starts making a scene but fortunately Eben and Stella arrive at the same time to stop him from getting violent and take him to the station's cell. In the meantime, a group of pipeline workers is finishing for the day when suddenly, one of them gets dragged into the darkness. A few seconds pass before the worker's body falls on the snow, causing his friend to run away in panic. The third worker's frozen in fear, and the vampires take the chance to surround him. Back at the station, Eben tries to find out how the Stranger sneaked into their town, but the man refuses to answer.

 Suddenly the internet goes out, and when Eben tries to call Gus, he discovers the phone lines are out too. At that moment the entire town also loses power and the Stranger announces "they" are coming. Eben goes to the cell tower to find out what's going on and finds a trail of blood that he follows until he discovers Gus' head. Horrified, Eben rushes back to town and drives around to tell every citizen to stay inside. If they don't have a generator, then they should hide in the diner. In John's house, Ally is preparing dinner when suddenly a vampire breaks through the window and drags her out. John hears her screaming and goes to save her with his rifle, but when he gets close enough, the vampire scratches to keep him away. Unwilling to give up, John tries again and even manages to grab Ally's hand, but the vampire's stronger and takes her away. At the station, the Stranger keeps talking about the end coming for everyone. Jake gets annoyed and throws a piece of his game at him, but this only makes the Stranger happy because he can use it to pick the lock. Immediately Jake goes to retrieve the piece and the Stranger uses the chance to attack him, but at that moment Eben arrives and shoots the Stranger in the arm. Then he handcuffs the man to the cell door to interrogate him, but the Stranger's only answer's that they'll all die. Eben asks Helen and Jake to say inside while he and Stella look for the criminal. After a few minutes of driving, Eben stops the car because he saw something, but when Stella checks with her binoculars, she gets scared and urges Eben to get back in the car. The pair tries to escape, but a vampire suddenly jumps on top of the car, and Eben shooting at it does absolutely nothing. Stella stops the car, and this does make the vampire fall, allowing them to return to town. When they get back, they see fires everywhere and hear gunshots. Helen contacts them through the radio to ask for help so they hurry back to the station, but it's too late. Helen and Jake are gone, only having left a trail of blood behind.

The Stranger is still in the cell complaining because "they" didn't take him and asks Eben to help him end things. Eben truly considers killing him, but Stella stops him. Meanwhile the vampires gather in town to hear from their leader Marlow. He reminds them it's important to remove their victims' heads to prevent them from turning into vampires too. He also wishes they had come to this town sooner because the constant darkness is perfect for them. Then the vampires go on a killing rampage around town, feeding on anyone they can put their hands on without mercy. A horrified group of survivors gathers in the diner and all share the same experience: their bullets did nothing. Eben and Stella arrive and are relieved to see Jake is ok, but unfortunately Helen didn't make it.

The group discusses their options and Carter suggests hiding in the utilidor, but that's too risky because it's too far. A woman points out that her neighbor has an attic with a hidden pull-down ladder and the house was boarded up before the owner left. Eben asks Carter to guide the group to that house while he and Stella distract the vampires. The two of them drive around town to act as bait and the plan works, soon a bunch of vampires grab their car and try to attack them through the windows. Eben manages to kill one of them by aiming at the head, but Marlow takes his gun and the car gets flipped over. The vampires immediately reach for Stella and Eben again, but at that moment, Beau shows up in his bulldozer and runs over the enemy. Eben and Stella rush to join him in the vehicle and they drive away rather fast until they make it to the house with the attic, which is incredibly well hidden as promised. Eben tells the group they'll sleep in shifts and ration their food, they have good chances of surviving because they're used to the polar night unlike their enemy.

Meanwhile Marlow and Iris visit the Stranger at the station. They commend the man for doing his job perfectly and promise to turn him, but when Marlow hugs the Stranger, he kills him instead. Six days pass with the survivors managing to stay alive and well in the attic, although sometimes they have to deal with Wilson's father Isaac having dreams about his wife, who died years ago. One evening, they hear noises outside, and Stella looks out through a hole to discover the vampires are ransacking the neighboring houses. Some of the survivors want to leave before they're caught, and when Stella and Eben point out it's too risky, an argument ensues. Eben calms everyone down and reminds them they're team before coming to terms with the fact the vampires are too close.

 They need to escape to gather supplies from the store and hide in the utilidor, but they'll need some cover, thus they agree to try when the next blizzard comes. On day seven, the group hears Kristen walk down the streets asking for help. Eben notices the vampires follow her by jumping on the roofs, meaning they're using her as bait. The survivors insist on helping her, so Eben comes out and discovers John is around too, hiding underneath a house. Kristen is his priority and Eben asks John to wait, but unfortunately this distraction means Eben doesn't make it in time and the vampires begin slashing at Kristen before jumping to feed. With the vampires distracted, Eben goes to save John, but as soon as he pulls him out he notices John is becoming a vampire too. Eben tries to talk to him but John goes rabid and attacks, pushing Eben against a swing set that catches him with its chains. Fortunately there's an ax nearby that Eben uses to defend himself, allowing him to kill John with a few precise strikes. Then Eben runs back into the house, where he collapses from an asthma attack. Outside, Marlow finds John's body and takes it as a clue of someone being around.

 Moments later, it's Stella's turn to be on guard, and Isaac takes advantage of her falling asleep to leave the basement. Stella and Wilson hear the door and immediately go after him, convincing him trying to walk to the city is a terrible idea. Isaac cries as he thinks his wife won't survive and goes to the bathroom. However seconds later they hear a noise and discover the door's locked. Wilson picks the lock and they discover Isaac has escaped through the window, so Wilson goes after him and pushes Stella away when she tries to stop him. Eben hears the commotion and comes down to check on Stella, but at that moment, a vampire enters the house and they hide in the bathroom. The vampire looks around the house and approaches the bathroom door, but when he's about to open it, he hears Wilson calling for his father outside and decides to go after him instead.

While Wilson gets killed, Eben and Stella run back to the attic, feeling guilty for abandoning their friend. Suddenly thumping noises can be heard from the roof, Eben looks through the window and confirms not only that the vampires are gone, but that it's also snowing heavily. Using the wind and snow as cover, the survivors go to the local store to gather as many supplies as they can carry. Suddenly they hear a noise and to their horror, they find a vampire girl feeding on a body. The survivors run to find Eben, but when he comes closer with his ax, the girl's gone. Eben keeps looking around, and the girl comes out of the shadows to attack him, making him drop the ax. The rest of the group quickly comes to help him, grabbing the girl together and pinning her against the wall in order for Jake to kill her with the ax, a task that leaves him deeply traumatized. The survivors get ready to leave, but they discover it's stopped snowing, so they'll have to wait inside the store for another blizzard. On day eighteen, Eben points out they need to leave because the vampires will soon reach this area.

The utilidor's still too far to reach without cover, thus they agree to go to the police station, but they need a distraction. They realize the vampires sent the Stranger to cut communications off early on because they couldn't come out during the day, and Eben remembers Helen had UV lights for his plants in her house, so he'll fight the vampires with those while the others run away. Eben runs out of the building making noise on purpose to get the vampires' attention, however one of the creatures goes after the fleeing group and jumps on one of the survivors. The group has no choice but to leave him behind as they escape, safely making it to the station. The vampires surround Helen's house and Marlow allows Iris to go first, but as soon as she steps inside, Eben receives her with the glowing UV light. Iris falls on the snow as half her body burns and the vampires go to shut down the generator to turn off the lights. Eben runs through the back door while he keeps his group updated through the walkie-talkies, so Beau tells him to run to Rogers Avenue. Marlow sees Iris suffering and gets her permission to feed on her so she can die in peace. The other vampires follow Eben only to suddenly be run over by Beau driving a ditch driller. He shoots all the ones that try to jump on the vehicle, but soon there are too many of them and Beau decides to crash the driller into a building. Then he leaves the vehicle with a box of explosives in hand, and since his rifle is jammed, he lights a flare and drops it in the box. Eben watches the explosion that takes down a bunch of vampires before running away in grief, however Beau is still alive. When he comes out of the building, Marlow calls him pathetic and kills him with his foot. Eben joins the others at the station, but their reunion is cut short when Carter reveals he was bitten by the girl in the store when they held her down. Carter lost his family in a car crash and has wanted to end things for a while but he never dared, now he finally has a reason to ask for assistance.

 Eben hates to do this but knows it's for the sake of their own safety, so he takes Carter into another room to kill him while everyone hears. On day twenty-seven, they notice a light coming from a neighboring house. Eben and Stella go to check and are shocked to find Billy next to the bodies of his family after he killed them to save them from the vampires. He wanted to end things for himself too but the gun jammed. Eben scolds Billy for not having even tried to save his family before the three of them return to the station, only to find it empty. Since it's started to snow again, the trio assumes the others went to the utilidor and begin heading there. When they hear some noises, they hide under a house and see Gail coming down the street. Stella rushes to grab her and bring her under the house right before a vampire appears, so Eben decides to distract him to give the others a chance to escape.

 However instead of going with the girls, Billy runs in another direction in fear, getting another vampire's attention. Eben manages to run safely to the utilidor and reunites with the others, but he worries when he notices Stella and Gail haven't arrived yet. Meanwhile Marlow gathers the vampires and reminds them humans shouldn't know they're real, meaning it's very important to find every single survivor and kill them all. Back at the utilidor, Billy arrives without knowing a vampire's following him. The beast bites Billy and the group quickly comes to help him when they hear the screams. This vampire's stronger and manages to overpower Eben, almost throwing him into the metal grinder. Billy jumps on the creature and pushes it into the grinder first, effectively killing him but also losing his arms in the process. To make matters worse, Billy is starting to turn, so Eben has no choice but to kill him too. On day thirty, the survivors begin to celebrate that the sun will come out soon. Eben finally manages to contact Stella through the walkie-talkie, and she explains she and Gail are hiding under a car nearby.

Eben checks through the window and sees they're surrounded by vampires, so he asks Stella to wait under the car until morning and they can see the sunrise together. However the vampires are tired of waiting and used the oil that Beau's bulldozer leaked all over town to start a fire. If Stella and Gail stay under the car, they'll burn, but if they come out, they'll be killed. A desperate Eben realizes a human can't win this fight, so he uses a syringe to take some blood from Billy and injects it into his own body. As Eben begins to turn, the others wonder if they should kill him, but a crying Jake protects his brother. Eben says goodbye to Jake with a hug, then goes outside to challenge Marlow to a one-on-one fight. Marlow accepts and begins beating Eben up easily, but this distraction gives Stella and Gail the chance to escape. Eben's body continues to change while he's being pulverized, and when Marlow's about to deliver the final blow, Eben's eyes turn black. He uses his new full vampire strength to hit Marlow's head so hard that he instantly kills him. Having lost their leader, the other vampires run away, but Eben doesn't go after them because it's almost dawn. Stella realizes the sunlight will affect Eben too, so she takes him to the top of the hill. The couple shares one final kiss as the sun comes up and turns Eben into ashes in Stella's arms.

By the year 2267, Earth has become  uninhabitable because of ecological collapse,   and humans now live in overcrowded space stations  in Earth's orbit. Those with enough money escape   to the planet Rhea, where they can start a new  life. Laura wants to join her sister on Rhea,   thus she has taken a job on the cargo  ship Kassandra as the crew doctor for   the money. The trip to Station #42 will take  four years to arrive and four more to get back,   so the crew will go into cryosleep and take turns  staying awake one person at a time for eight   months to keep an eye on things. Before leaving,  Laura sends her sister one last video message,   which will take a few years to get to Rhea. When  she boards the Kassandra, Laura meets the crew:   Captain Lacroix, first officer Lindbergh, system  administrator Yoshida, Prokoff, and Vespucci.   There's also Decker, a sky marshal sent by the  government because lately ships have been under   attack by the radical Neo-Luddite group "Machine  Strikers", who are against living inside machines.

 Their leader Bruckner is still on the loose after  he bombed a few stations so they have to keep an   eye out for him. The crew enters cryosleep  and things go peacefully for three years.   When it is Laura's turn to wake up, she finds a  message from her sister Arianne waiting for her,   where she expresses her worries over the terrorist  attacks. Laura sends her a message back and then   concentrates on establishing a routine to keep  herself sane, which includes reading, exercising,   and keeping an eye on the ship's performance. One  day, Laura begins hearing noises inside the ship.   She follows them to the cargo bay, where she  suddenly finds something banging at the door. 

 Terrified, Laura runs away and is shocked to bump  into Decker, who explains he was automatically   woken up when the system detected someone entering  the cargo bay, which is forbidden. Laura tells him   what happened and rushes to wake up Lacroix, since  the rules say the captain must be around during   unexpected incidents. Once Lacroix wakes up, the  three of them investigate the cargo bay and find   the astronaut suits thrown on the floor. Lacroix  wants to believe the air pressure tossed them,   but then he checks the system logs and discovers  multiple illegal accesses during Laura's shift.   Afterward, the trio suits up and enters the  containment area, leaving a metal plate at   the gate to keep it open. They split to look  for clues and Laura climbs to the upper area,   which consists of dangerous narrow bridges to  walk on. Suddenly Laura notices something falling:   it is Lacroix.

 Decker and Laura rush to check  on him and find him unconscious. At that moment,   the gate starts closing because it's bending  the plate, so Decker picks up Lacroix and   runs with Laura to get out before they get  locked inside. By the time they make it out,   Lacroix is dead and no CPR will bring him back.  Since this is an emergency now, the whole crew   must be woken up. Following protocol, Lindbergh  becomes captain and she immediately assigns tasks:   Yoshida must inspect the logs for suspicious  activity, Laura must do an autopsy on Lacroix, and Prokoff and Vespucci must fix the gate. During  the autopsy, Laura confirms Lacroix died when he   fell, she also discovers one of his eyes is an  implant.

She and Decker connect the eye to the   computer and check the recording of Lacroix's last  moments. To their shock, Lacroix finds an open   containment unit with a biohazard warning on it,  which doesn't make sense because they are supposed   to be transporting construction materials. While  Prokoff and Vespucci discover the gate's gears   somehow broke, Laura and Decker return to the  cargo bay and use Lacroix's badge to investigate   the containers from the video. They go deeper  inside and find all units connected by thick   pipes. A closer look reveals a huge surprise:  there are sleeping humans inside all of them. They   call Prokoff and Vespucci to help them move a unit  with a kid out of the bay, which raises an alert   in the system and all the units start moving. The  men move quickly enough but Laura almost falls and   has to grab onto the stairs until Decker comes  to help her. Moments later, they bring the unit   to the medical bay. Lindbergh isn't happy about  this because they aren't supposed to mess with   the cargo, but now the rest of the crew wonders  if Lacroix was murdered for seeing something he   shouldn't have. Someone clearly set the containers  in motion to kill them too, but Lindbergh insists   it was just the system putting the units in order  and that they should take the kid back.

 Decker   reminds her this is a murder investigation and  Laura gets to do a full inspection of the kid. The   scan confirms the child is under cryosleep, but  she can't learn anything else because the tank is   blocking her machines. Laura asks Decker for help  and he uses a special program that will open the   unit's digital lock in a few minutes. While they  wait, Laura tells him about her sister in Rhea,   and Decker kisses her. Meanwhile Lindbergh  asks Yoshida to investigate Decker, thinking   there's something wrong with him. At the cargo  bay, Prokoff and Vespucci begin hearing weird   noises coming from the inside. Once the container  is finally unlocked, Laura takes a closer look at   the kid and discovers there is a perfected virtual  reality connector embedded in the girl's spine,   something Laura never saw before. Decker wants to  disconnect her, but Laura refuses because it could   cause irreparable neural damage.

Reluctantly  Decker understands and asks Laura to keep   this secret for now. Afterward Laura sends another  message to Arianne, telling her about her findings   and complaining about how long messages take to  arrive. In the meantime, Yoshida tries to access   Decker's file only to get blocked out. Twenty  minutes later, Laura is surprised to get a message   from Arianne back so soon. Confused about what's  going on, she confronts Decker and asks him why he   wants to keep secrets and why he knows how to open  the units. Instead of replying, Decker kisses her,   and the two of them end up getting frisky. A few  hours later, Lindbergh calls everyone to the deck   and informs them that Yoshida discovered someone  manipulated the cryo-chambers logs. It turns out   Decker had been woken on regular basis, but Decker  just says it is part of his duty to check on the   ship periodically.

Lindbergh suspects him to  be Lacroix's killer and tries to arrest him,   causing Decker to try to defend himself.  Yoshida and Vespucci manage to overpower him,   but in the struggle Decker gets hurt, and Laura  asks them to bring him into the medical bay to   avoid blood contamination. Laura takes care of  Decker's wound while ignoring Decker's attempts   at chitchat, and before she leaves, Decker  confesses they aren't going to Station #42,   they're actually going to Rhea. Afterward, Decker  is put back into cryosleep. In private, Laura   asks Yoshida to check the ship's destination.  Yoshida confirms they aren't going to Station #42,   and since it's impossible to change coordinates  after the flight already began, it means this   was planned from the beginning. When Laura brings  up her messages arriving quickly to Rhea, Yoshida   points out Lindbergh is lying to them since she  should know the coordinates.

 Afterward Yoshida   goes back to her computer to see if she can find  out more. While Laura has a drink with the guys,   she notices the power fluctuating and worries  about Yoshida, so she goes to check on her.   Unfortunately Yoshida is already dead. Upon  hearing this, the crew immediately goes to check   on Decker and discovers he's escaped the cryopod.  The logs indicate someone left him out. The crew   gets armed and goes looking for Decker. Laura  and Vespucci go to the lower deck and find an   open duct, which makes them think Decker escaped  through there. Vespucci goes to the other side   of the vent while Laura climbs this end, and  she ends up finding a secret chamber full of   trash. Suddenly she's attacked by a man and in  the struggle, Laura shoots him. A closer look   reveals this guy is the terrorist Bruckner, and  there's a box with his belongings nearby. Laura   finds pictures of the Machine Strikers working to  develop natural resources and discovers Decker is   part of the organization. There's also a tablet  with a video showing that the Machine Strikers   are growing food on Earth thanks to greenhouses  and are purifying their own water, so there's no   need to leave the planet, they just need to make  an effort to clean it. Then Laura is startled by   Vespucci, who informs her they've found Decker. 

 Everyone returns to the deck and Lindbergh orders   the guys to hit Decker to make him talk. Decker  explains Rhea is just a simulation and the people   in the containers are being used as neural units.  The government is lying because if people knew   parts of Earth are habitable again, the system  would crumble. Decker admits Bruckner cracked up   and killed Lacroix, but not Yoshida. Vespucci  and Prokoff take Decker away while Lindbergh   asks Laura to finish with the kid in order to  send her back to the cargo hold. Lindbergh also   wants Laura to go back to cryosleep, promising  to take over her shift. Getting suspicious,   Laura takes out her gun but Lindbergh beats  her to it and ties her up. Lindbergh explains   that settlement on Rhea actually failed, and  the simulation is only temporary until they   manage to find a new planet to terraform. This  simulation allows people to stay alive with hope,   and Lindbergh won't allow anyone to get in the  way, so she'll kill Laura and Decker with the   excuse they killed the captain.

Meanwhile Vespucci  and Prokoff take Decker to a random corridor and   demand to know everything. When they hear  Lindbergh knew all along, they go back to   capture her and put her into cryosleep. Vespucci  tells Prokoff they should connect themselves to   Rhea because a simulation is still better than  this crappy life they have. In the medical bay,   Laura manages to start safely waking the kid from  the unit. Decker apologizes for lying and asks for   her help, Laura accepts as long as he rescues her  sister from the simulation. Afterward, the crew   makes a plan. They'll finish their trip to Station  #42 because that's where the simulation is kept,   so Decker will connect Laura to the system in  order to send a message with the truth to Earth.  

 Then they'll blow up the antenna. For the next few  days, Decker and Laura spend their private time   together, and Decker tells Laura how nature has  reclaimed every spot on Earth. When they finally   arrive at Station #42, they delay the delivery of  the cargo, which gets them thirty minutes to pull   off the plan. Laura discovers the child is awake  and wandering, so she has to quickly take her back   to her room to keep her safe. Prokoff and Vespucci  secretly work against the plan because they want   to connect themselves to Rhea, and to do that  they'll need Lindbergh's badge. Vespucci burns   his hand with cryoliquid to retrieve it from the  tank while Prokoff reprograms the unloading of the   cargo to ten minutes instead of thirty. Next they  use the badge to access the units and disconnect   two people to take their places in the simulation.  As the system gets ready for delivery protocol,   it wakes Lindbergh up. Meanwhile Decker goes  on a spacewalk to put the explosives on the   station's antenna before he goes looking for  Arianne's container, luckily finding it quickly. 

  Laura decides to join him, but her suit begins  malfunctioning and Decker has to catch her before   she drifts away. Decker explains to Laura that the  units can't be just unplugged without killing the   people inside, so Laura asks to be connected to  the simulation in order to meet her sister and   send the message. At that moment, the ship begins  delivering the cargo automatically, meaning they   only have a few minutes left before the ship  begins the trip back.

 Decker connects Laura to   Rhea and Laura is shocked to appear in the most  beautiful forest she's ever seen. In a house   nearby, Laura reunites with Arianne and her kids  and cries over having to destroy their happiness.   She runs away into the woods and records a message  for Earth explaining the truth behind Rhea,   finishing right before Decker wakes her up with  bad news.

 Since the cell unit of Laura's jetpack   is broken, Decker gave her his, meaning only  she can back into the ship. Laura doesn't want   to leave without him, but Decker reminds her  she must protect the kid since she's the only   proof they have. Suddenly the ship's thrusters are  turned on, pushing the duo away from the station.   Decker uses this push to let go of Laura and  drift away into space. Grieving but determined,   Laura uses the jetpack to enter the ship safely  right before the station antenna explodes. As   the ship goes into autopilot mode to start the  flight back, Laura goes looking for the girl and   bumps into Lindbergh. A fight ensues between  both women, and when Lindbergh grabs an axe,   she accidentally breaks a gas tank.

Laura uses it  to push Lindbergh into an airlock, trapping her   there. Then the airlock exit opens and Lindbergh  is ejected into space. Afterward, Laura looks for   the kid and finds her calmly having a meal. The  two of them begin a new routine for the trip back   while Laura's message arrives at the stations  around Earth, letting people know the truth.
